Gathering in the Risen Lord
This year’s Holy Week is unlike any in the past. It is without a congregation physically present in the church. The thought of
celebrating Holy Mass and Good Friday in an empty church this week, is making my heart heavy. However the Sacred Triduum
that we celebrate in Holy Week reassures me that this journey is not one I make alone, but with the faithful joining me
spiritually with whatever life throws at them. On Holy Thursday we meet Jesus gathering his Apostles around the Passover
meal to teach them that Son of man has come not to be served but to serve. On Good Friday, we see Jesus betrayed and
deserted by these Apostles. At Easter we see the Risen Lord reassuring them, “do not be afraid’. The Holy week in the context
of the current lockdown will help usto see thatsocial distancing is an opportunity for usto think of others who are in a similar
situation and be able to reassure them. This is a reminder for us that there are painful and inevitable situations in our life
which need to be seen through the lens of faith and hope. Easter offers us hope and new life amidst these difficult times. We
may be physically distanced but we are united in Christ, especially at the Eucharist we celebrate every day. May the Risen
Lord fill our hearts with faith and hope so that our endurance becomes the proclamation of our love for Christ who leads us
to the joy of resurrection. Wishing you a blessed Easter.
Welcome to St John Vianney Syro Malabar Mission
St. John Marie Vianney Syro Malabar Mission (JMV Mission) is a Catholic community constituted largely of Catholics from Kerala, India living in south west London. This Mission is part of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain which has its Sea in Preston, UK. The uniqueness of this centre is that we are consisted of those migrant people originally from Kerala, who wish to cherish their Tradition and Liturgy, and nourish their Faith while assimilating the Catholic ethos experienced in our socio-religious context. Moreover JMV Mission aims at facilitating unique context for children and young people to assimilate and grow in the Tradition, Liturgy and Faith of the Syro Malabar Church. In view of this we have arranged Holy Qurbana (Mass) on every Second and Fourth Sunday of month, and Catechesis after the Holy Qurbana. Our mission is to Grow and Help to Grow.
